Conditions/ Procedures requiring Antibiotic prophylaxis for endoscopic procedure

 

1.Bile duct obstruction without cholangitis

  • • Procedure: ERCP with anticipatory incomplete biliary drainage
  • • Goal of prophylaxis: Prevention of Cholangitis

 

2.Sterile pancreatic fluid collection that communicates with the pancreatic duct

  • • Procedure: ERCP
  • • Goal of prophylaxis: Prevention of cyst infection

 

3.Cystic lesion along the GI tract, including the , mediastinum

  • • Procedure: EUS-FNA
  • • Goal of prophylaxis: Prevention of cyst infection

 

4.Cirrhosis with acute GI bleeding

  •  • Procedure: All endoscopic procedure
  • • Goal of prophylaxis: To prevent SBP

 

5.PEG insertion: To prevent peritoneal infection
