  • – Gelatinous bile that contains numerous microlithiasis of
  •                       Calcium bilirubinate granules
  •                      • Cholesterol crystal
  •                       Glycoproteins
  • – It is an important precursor of gall stone formation
  • – It is frequently formed under normal conditions
  • – They are normally dissolved or cleared by the gall bladder
  • – 15% patients have persistent biliary sludge that precipitates to form cholesterol stone
  • – Conditions that are associated with sludge formation
  •                       • Fasting
  •                       TPN
  •                       Pregnancy
